Eckhart on the Crisis in Haiti

The Haiti earthquake has brought the world Eckhart's central teaching of the Pain Body -- the physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual suffering of the ego when faced with catastrophe.
Eckhart says humanity has reached a crisis point. But unlike man-made disasters like the world economic crisis, the Haiti earthquake is a natural disaster. The only way to avoid this crisis would be to not be in it's path.
But avoidable Pain Body aspects of this crisis are now unfolding. Television anchors rushed to film the carnage, long before the arrival of medical help, in order to further their careers. Internet criminals posing as legitimate relief agencies took contributions from unsuspecting donors. Eckhart offers the bold warning that technology amplifies egoic dysfunction. The Haitians don't want to be on TV right now, they need food, shelter, and medical help.
So what can we do after we send our help and prayers to this beleaguered country? Eckhart reminds us that "Our greatest contribution to the world is our own awareness". Here is Eckhart expounding on that teaching:
